Jasmine Respess
I am a Florida native who writes about the intersections of my Black, Queer, Southern, and Caribbean identities. At New College of Florida, I spent my undergrad career as a journalist, so I utilize interviews with family members and research in much of my work. The tradition of magical realism has inspired me, and I explore folktales and lore in my poems and non-fiction pieces. I earned an MFA in Poetry from The New School, New York in 2020. I live in Hollywood, Florida with my two dogs and my best friend, Sara. I am the Managing Editor with Islandia Journal and an Acquisitions Editor with North Atlantic Books.
